Here at Hostel Casa del Parque we offer an escape from the city. Although we´re nestled right in heart of the historic district, the mansion is situated like a pilar
amongst some of the oldest trees in the city.

The vision of this Costa Rican family-owned hostel is to share the true tradition of their country´s hospitality. This property has been in the family for five generations and allows the traveler an almost home-stay experience with the freedom of a guesthouse environment.

There is no other private residence this close to the spectacular and statuesque
park. In fact, the neighborhood is the park. Upon entering, you quickly realize you´ve traveled back to the old days when attention to detail was the norm. Charming glass-etched french doors and exquisite tiled floors lead you into a dramatic skylit foyer. From there, it´s up the hardwood wrap around staircase to the second floor balcony private rooms boasting antiques, original oil paintings and hardwood floors.

One more flight of stairs reveals the treasure of this location. The third floor is devoted to the views of volcanoes and the giant trees of the park. Waist to ceiling windows look out over the entire city in 3 different directions. It´s like a lighthouse over the city with million-dollar views. The sofas and giant glass coffee table make way to the treetop
forest view of the National Park. Sun bath on the expansive terrace while the parrots chirp and sip a cool drink.

And then, wait until nightfall where you can watch the clouds sweep over the pass of the volcano Irazu´ and roll over the stars. Naturally, it goes without saying this isn´t your typical city dweller´s abode.

As far as night life is concerned, Barrio California in San Jose has got more restaurants and bars per square meter than anywhere else in the city. We are a stone´s throw from
The National Theatre and all of the major National Museums.

The guesthouse finds itself as a favorite amongst artists and musicians. The Central American Symphony members consider Casa del Parque their home when they play the National Theatre. Folk artists, dance troupes and popular bands from neighbouring countries return again and again while touring in San Jose.
